Ancient Stones Mineral Makeup Review

01 Mar

It seems like I am on a never-ending quest to find the perfect make up for my needs. When I say I have tried just about everything on the market, that is by no means an exaggeration. When I was in high school, many years ago, the only thing available was liquid makeup. It is all I knew but I could not stand how it smeared onto clothing and God forbid the temperature rose above 60 degrees because my face would melt like a snowman in July and leave streaks and an oily sheen to my skin. I can remember scurrying between classes to find the nearest bathroom to do touch ups. By the end of the day my skin felt like an oily, sweaty mess.

By the time I was in my twenties, powder foundation had come along but it felt like a pancake pressed on my face and it never seemed to stay put. Again I was reapplying several times a day!  A few years ago I found mineral makeups and thought, whew, finally a makeup that will stay put and look good all day long. I have tried several different brands and have pretty good results and love the way my skin feels so light after using it. I figured that all mineral makeup was the same so I would buy what I found on sale. Let me tell you, all mineral makeups are NOT the same.  Some cover better than others and some leave your skin feeling just as heavy as liquid makeup.

Recently I was given the opportunity to try Ancient Stones Mineral Makeup. I have to admit that I went into it thinking these products would be no different from the others I have tried. I was wrong! I received a box with several different products and the containers seemed small. I thought that after just a couple of applications it would be gone. Wrong again. You need very little of this product to get amazing results. In my pics you will see the amount of product that I put into the lid, which is not very much, and I still didn’t use it all. So remember, a little goes a long way. I received the Fabulous folly Concealer, Jenny’s Joy Foundation, Ancient Elixir Setting Spray, Princess Kelly and Butter Cream eyeshadow, and Pink Gold Lip Balm.

First I washed my face and applied moisturizer, which is recommended. I then applied the concealer with a small brush. It went on evenly and smoothly and I could instantly see the coverage. Now I am not in the habit of posting pictures of myself without makeup because I have issues with my skin, but you will see the difference in the before and after photos. I had red blotchy skin and even a couple of broken blood vessels on my cheeks that were now hidden. I then applied the foundation with a brush as well, you can also use a sponge if you want more coverage. The foundation gave my skin a sun kissed look that I was not expecting. I cannot believe how light this makeup is and it feels that I am wearing none. I applied my own blush and then started on the eyeshadow. I received colors that were picked just for me to compliment my green eyes. I started with the Butter Cream as an all over highlighter and base. I then applied the Princess Kelly into the crease. To be honest, I wasn’t happy at first with the green color. I felt like a little girl who had gotten into her mom’s makeup, but after I played with it and adjusted the amount of color it looked amazing!  I added my own eyeliner and mascara and then applied the Pink Gold Lip color. It too is very light and it doesn’t even feel like I am wearing lipstick! Bonus!  After spritzing my face with the setting spray, I was ready to meet the world.

I was so pleased with the results! Being in my forties now, one of my makeup worries is that it will settle in the fine lines I so begrudgingly accept. This makeup does not do this, YAY!  This amazing makeup is all natural and free of perfumes, dyes and talc. It does not have perfumes, preservatives or fillers and I love this.

UPDATE:  Yesterday I decided to go back and try the mineral makeup that I had been using for over a year. I had always really liked this makeup. Now after using the Ancient Stones Mineral Makeup, my old minerals felt heavier on my face and after about an hour, I noticed that it felt a bit greasy. It’s funny that I had never noticed this before. I guess I have truly proved that all mineral makeups are NOT the same.
