Simple hacks to make life easier

I don’t know about you but I HATE cleaning so anything I can do to make life easier is  A OK with me. There are hacks for just about everything so here are a few that make life so much simpler in my home!! Not all hacks though are just for cleaning, I have added in some Life hacks as well.

 

Clean grout with  a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Mix until it is a paste  and then gently scrub, let sit for a few minutes and then wash off!  Voila!! Clean grout!

 

Clean mineral deposits off your faucets and shower heads with good old plain Vinegar!!

 

Clean stains and mold in the shower or tub with a simple mixture of bleach and baking soda and make a paste  leave it on the affected area overnight. Rinse or wipe off in the morning. For really tough stains or mold, reapply a second time. Make sure when working with bleach you have proper ventilation

Clean rust off chrome with Barkeepers friend and water to make a paste. Rub onto the rust and let sit for a few minutes. for more stubborn rust, use a soft bristled brush so you do not scratch the surface.  Apply Min Wax after the rust is gone and it keeps it from coming back.

 

Keep Mosquitos away from a campfire or firepit by burning sage leaves in it.  A wonderful skeeter repellent!!

 

JUST FOR FUN:   Dipped toasted marshmallows in Baileys ( keep away from the kiddos lol)  everyone should try this just once!

 

Take spices or seasonings on the go or make cute housewarming gifts:  place your spices in a clear plastic straw and seal the ends with a lighter. This is great for take a longs for camping too!!

On the go shower caddy: great for camping or even dorm life. Use a lanyard with the hook on it and add several more hooks. buy the sample size bottles that have the holes at the top or bottom or even buy the empties and fill yourself. This is even airline approved.  I have to show you this one its so cool 🙂  

 

Turn a bra into a racer back or hide unwanted straps with a paper clip 🙂

 

Handwash your sports bra after a workout by taking it into the shower with you !

 

Dry your delicates faster with a salad spinner. Yes it works   But get one you will only be using for this!

Keep bras from getting smashed and out of shape in a drawer by hanging them on a single hanger in your closet

Have a broken wire in your bra that is poking you? In a pinch, a panty liner cut into a small pice and wrapped around the offending wire will help! Just cut a piece and remove the paper and you have instant sticky tape. This can also help with straps that are painful.

Clean out your gutters with a PVC pipe attached to a leaf blower and you never have to get on a ladder.

Mount your phone to the dash by inserting a rubber band through one of the vent holes and bring it through another. attach around your phone      Here’s a pic of this one :

 

Keep pizza boxes from sliding on your way home with an empty water bottle placed at the back of the seat. And if you have seat warmers, turn them on to keep pizza nice and hot.

 

Keep dust from falling when drilling a hole in a wall with a post it note folded and stuck on the wall just below where you are drilling.  The crease will catch the dust.

Cut many grapes in half with in seconds.  place the grapes on a plate ( ceramic style works best) place another plate over top of them with the bottom of the plate facing up. Put a little pressure but not much because you do not want to squish the grapes, on the plate   and take a long knife like a bread knife in between the plates and slice.  great for when the kids wanna snack but you dont want to risk them choking on a whole grape.

Attach your keys to your dogs collar when out on a run or walk and you don’t have any pockets

Here’s one for the hubby lol….

wear a hoodie backward and place popcorn in the hood. You can eat without hands!!

 

Don’t have a portable DVD player for the kids on long trips? Place your smart phone in a plastic bag and attach to the headrest   of the front seat with a rubber band for instant viewing screen. This can work on a plane as well.

 

Want to get just the egg whites more easily?  place an empty water bottle like a Dasani bottle directly over the yolk and squeeze the bottle. It will suck up the yolk like magic.

Need a chip clip?  Cut the clips off of a plastic pants hanger and voila!

 

Have old, smelly shoes?  Place a tea bag in the shoes and leave for 24 hours, it will absorb the odor.

Your old towels not as absorbent as they use to be?  Wash your towels in hot water and 1 cup white vinegar, do not use any soap. Then rewash with hot water and 1/2 cup baking soda, again no soap.  This will strip all of the gunk left by detergents and dryer sheets over the years and make them absorbent and soft again.
