Ten Uses for Used Tea Bags

I love making my own tea at home and we do it daily so I have a lot of used tea bags. I am also a HUGE fan of the Farmer’s Almanac and love to read it each year. This list of uses comes straight from that amazing book!!

1.Eliminate foot odor   soak stinky feet or feet prone to athletes foot in a solution made from black tea bags for 30 minutes. The Tannic acid helps with odor and acts as an astringent for bacteria.

2.Shine mirrors   Re-soak used tea bags in warm water dip a clean cloth in the tea and shine mirrors use a clean cloth to dry them

3. coax your compost    if you have a compost pile  re-soak tea bags in water ( let sit til very strong) and pour over the top of your compost pile to quicken the process

4. Have potted plants?  Add used tea bags to the bottom of the pot before planting. It soaks up water and releases nutrients into the plant.

5. Sparkling toilets     place a couple of used tea bags in the toilet ( make sure no one is going to flush them) and let sit for 2-3 hours then brush and flush.

6. Out of baking soda? Use a couple of used tea bags in a plastic bowl instead of baking soda to soak up odors

7.Tenderize tough meat cuts    soak the tea bags in water and then use to tenderize meat as a marinade

8. Pain from a lost tooth?  Use a used tea bag in the spot where the tooth has been lost from it reduces pain and stops bleeding by constricting blood vessels

9. Insect bites  and rashes   place used tea bags in the fridge or freezer and place on an insect bite or rash  to reduce swelling and redness.

10. De Grease dirty dishes   Have a pile of stuck on greasy dishes? No need to scrub your fingers off  Soak them in warm water with used tea bags to soak of grease and make any scrubbing much more easy to do.
